Alliance for Aging Research Issues "A Call for Action" Report

National health organizations have long been fighting to increase federal funding toward medical research in aging and chronic diseases of older Americans. Since 1998, the Task Force for Aging Research Funding was among those calling on Congress to double the budget for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) within five years.

Realizing that the U.S. senior boom will drive health care costs for the next 50 years and beyond, the report, "A Call for Action", provides snapshots of aging research, highlighting how progress is being made with new understanding and tools from the life sciences against a host of ancient maladies, including stroke, blindness, arthritis, and cancer.
