Dept. of Commerce Unveils Initiative to Advance Assistive Technology Industry and Meet Technology Needs of Disabled Americans
In honor of the Americans with Disabilities Act 13th anniversary, Phil Bond, Under Secretary for Technology at the U.S. Department of Commerce, announced agency initiatives to improve access to assistive technology (AT) for Americans with disabilities. The initiatives reflect recommendations from a February, 2003 report, Technology Assessment of the U.S. Assistive Technology Industry and aim to improve manufacturing efficiency, field new designs to lower production costs and increase awareness of AT products among people with disabilities.
