National Symposium on Dispute Resolution in Special Education

CADRE is pleased to announce the Second National Symposium on Dispute Resolution in Special Education to be held at the Academy of Educational Development in Washington, D.C., November 21-23, 2002

Symposium Purpose:
To provide quality learning experiences and networking opportunities for individuals who help create agreement related to children who receive early intervention and special education services.

Symposium Objectives:
• Participants will receive information on state and local dispute resolution policies and practices and how they relate to the mediation requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Amendments of 1997-P.L. 105-17.

• Participants will acquire critical skills and knowledge related to culturally competent dispute resolution practices.

• Networks of state and local dispute resolution coordinators, service providers, dispute resolution practitioners and families will be strengthened.

• Participants will better understand the Consortium for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education (CADRE), its resources and how they can be used to support effective family school partnerships.
