IDEA Resources for 2005

Two important documents are made available for use by UCP affiliates, parents and advocates interested in recent revisions to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). IDEA is the federal law that creates the right to a free appropriate public education to almost 7 million children with disabilities in our country. These documents are meant to explain in layman's terms the key changes to IDEA made last fall when the U.S. Congress reauthorized this vital law. One document, the User's Guide to the 2004 IDEA Reauthorization, was prepared by the Center for the Study and Advancement of Disability Policy. The other document, IDEA: Analysis of Changes Made by P.L. 108-446 was prepared by the Congressional Research Service.
