    Sunshine Foundation and a blue and white drawing of a little boy.The Philadelphia-based organization which was founded by former Philadelphia police officer, Bill Sample in 1976, to grant the dreams and wishes of chronically and terminally ill children, has grown to encompass 25 all-volunteer staffed chapters located throughout the United States. To date, more than 26,500 children have had their dreams and wishes fulfilled through the efforts of the Sunshine Foundation.
