- Developed the first medical school curriculum on FAS which was piloted at the University of New Mexico, and is now being taught at Georgetown and Northwestern Universities.
- Responded to thousands of information requests each year through its free 800 number hotline.
- Conducted six statewide bilingual public awareness campaigns in Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico, New York and Washington, DC.
- Published books for children and adults.
- Produced three radio and television Public Service Announcements featuring Jimmy Smits, Bonnie Raitt, and Queen Latifah that are in regular rotation on all major networks.
- Held training conferences for lay and professional audiences as well as sponsoring community seminars which teach health professionals and educators the skills necessary to address FAS, and offer support to families and community members dealing with FAS.

National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is the only national organization focusing solely on FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), the leading known cause of mental retardation. NOFAS piloted many of its programs in Native American communities and continues to take a multicultural approach to prevention and healing in communities nationwide.
