    National Center for Youth with Disabilities (NCYD) was established in 1985 as an information and resource center focusing on the needs of adolescents with chronic illnesses and disabilities and the issues that surround their transition to adult life. The Center's mission was to:
    • Raise awareness of the needs of adolescents with chronic illness and disability.
    • Expand the knowledge and involvement of those who provide services to youth.
    • Promote programs and strategies which enhance the ability of adolescent and young adults to grow, develop, work, and participate in community life to their fullest capacity.
