Start on Success Alabama – Tuscaloosa County
UCPWA collaborates with the Tuscaloosa County and City School Systems, University of Alabama, CrossingPoints and local businesses to provide stipends for a school-to-work transition program for students ages 18-21. This has proven to be a very successful program, with individuals being placed into the competitive work force. The stipends are vital to the students’ success because the students learn the value of work. This is a holistic approach to moving individuals from school into competitive employment. The instructors assist the individuals in learning personal hygiene, self-care, self-direction, money management and daily living skills.
