Camp Bradford Woods
UCPAGI's overnight camp (6 days and nights each August) for adults with cerebral palsy is located in Bradford Woods near Martinsville. Also the site of Camp Riley (an overnight camp for children with disabilities), Bradford Woods is considered one of the nation's principal centers for outdoor recreation for people with disabilities. Hard-surfaced trails and large, wheelchair accessible buildings are only two of the accommodations at the Indiana University-owned facility which was established in 1955 by the James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association.

College-trained staff supervised by faculty of the I.U. School of Recreation and Park Administration encourage campers to develop self-confidence and self-reliance in an outdoor, therapeutic setting. Activities include crafts, outside sports, nature study, physical fitness and personal development. The staff to camper ratio is often one-to-one, enabling the full participation of each camper.

All Indiana adults with cerebral palsy over the age of eighteen (18) years are eligible to apply for the 60 camp "slots" on a first-come-first-served basis each year.

UCPAGI pays a portion of the cost for each camper and offers additional camperships and interest-free loans on a limited basis for the balance of the cost.

Intake process: Registration packets are sent each spring to former campers and to those who have made inquiries during the year. Applications will also be sent upon request; contact the UCPAGI Case Manager. Enrollment is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Desired Outcomes: Hoosiers with cerebral palsy will have choice and control in selecting personal goals and will have access to the supports they require; caregivers of Hoosiers with cerebral palsy will experience temporary relief from full-time caregiving responsibility.
