Work Incentives, Planning and Assistance (WIPA)

Work Incentives, Planning and Assistance (WIPA) will cover Lapper, Macomb and Oakland counties, The ultimate goal of WIPA is to assist Social Security Administration (SSA) beneficiaries with disabilities succeed in their return to work efforts. This will help achieve a substantial increase in the number of beneficiaries with disabilities to return to work and achieve greater self-sufficiency.

Under the WIPA project, Community Work Incentives Coordinators (CWICs) will provide written benefits analysis plans for beneficiaries with disabilities outlining their employment options and develop long-term supports that may be needed to ensure a beneficiary’s success in regards to employment. CWICs will also, based upon a beneficiary’s needs, make referrals to Employment Networks (ENs), Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) or One-Stop Career Center when appropriate.
