The following is a brief description of our program, which we continually refine to fit the varied and individual needs of the people we serve.
STEP ONE: RECRUITMENT
Individuals will be informed of our services through referrals and outreach centers. For example, the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation will refer disabled people to us who are in need of assistance. For a list of referral agencies, please see How To Get Involved.
STEP TWO: ORIENTATION
UCPNN’s helpful staff will meet with you at our facility or at a designated outreach center to address questions about eligibility criteria and services provided. You are welcome to visit our in-house Resource Center to independently obtain information on employment and other community resources that may be of interest to you. You may also participate in our computer training and tutorial services available in the Center as well.
STEP THREE: FURTHER ORIENTATION
If you would like to have more guidance and support than what is offered in our Resource Center, we would be happy to discuss more specific information on the Supported Employment Program with you and determine if you are eligible to participate.
STEP FOUR: REGISTRATION
At registration, you will be required to provide documentation proving that you are eligible for our program. At this time, a Job Developer will be assigned to assist you. Your Job Developer will help you find successful employment.
STEP FIVE: ASSESSMENT
Your Job Developer will meet with you to discuss what your employment goals are and what type of education and work history you have had. If you do not know what type of employment you are interested in, we have a variety of tools to help you reach a decision.
STEP SIX: DEVELOP A PLAN FOR YOU
Together with your Job Developer, you will evaluate what your goals are and what your educational and employment history has been. We will outline steps that will enable you to reach your goals. We want to be certain that you are aiming for a job that you desire and are qualified to do that job.
STEP SEVEN: IMPLEMENTATION OF YOUR PLAN
We will take the steps derived from Step Six and put them into action. For example, you may need further education or training to allow you to reach your goals. At this time, your Job Developer will be instrumental in your job placement. He or she will offer you support in areas that you may be unsure of, such as resume preparation and interview skills.
STEP EIGHT: FOLLOW-UP SERVICES
After you have been placed in a job, your Job Developer may have a Job Coach work with you on your job site everyday. The Job Coach will offer support and train you to do your job duties. This will allow you time to adjust to your new environment and responsibilities without any additional pressure. Once you are comfortable with your job routine, you will no longer need the daily guidance from the Job Coach. An Extended Service Coordinator will contact you a few times a month in order to address any questions or concerns that may arise.
At UCPNN, we are committed to your success. Should you have any questions or concerns about the Supported Employment program, please contact Mary Maragakis, the Supported Employment Administrator.
