In a cooperative effort with your business, this project negotiates for a variety of community job placements for the persons served by United Cerebral Palsy of Northern Nevada. These positions include part-time and full-time employment. Our program provides recruitment, skill and vocational assessment, job finding services, job analysis, on-the-job training, and ongoing support services to the employee and the employer. We are prepared to offer you:

  • an organized placement approach and prescreening of applicants through a series of assessment techniques
  • job-site modification/accommodation assistance
  • placement, on-the-job training, follow-up services and consultation
  • training of managers in disability awareness and tax credit opportunities
  • centralized referral of job applicants

Not only are we committed to fulfilling your needs as the employer, we want to offer people with disabilities the opportunity to gain competitive work experience and skills in the best possible workplace.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

An Employment Specialist, otherwise known as a Job Developer, works with local businesses, such as yours, to screen prospective positions to determine if they could be complimented by the skills our clients possess. Through a careful analysis, the job is matched to the individual who can most successfully fill that position. After the job match is made, an interview is arranged for the employee, so you, the employer, can make the final decision. In order to begin on-the-job training with the new employee, our Job Coach will work the position for a few days (at our expense) before the actual employee begins the job. Then, the Job Coach trains the client on the job site for a minimum of three weeks and will continue to work with the individual as long as needed for the employee to perform to your full satisfaction. At this point, an Extended Service Coordinator will contact the employee for a minimum of two visits per month to assure your continued satisfaction.

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE…

For those employers who wish to visit our facility, you will have access to our in-house Resource Center. Within the Center, you may post your current job openings on our bulletin board. You will also find information about our employer services, such as the work opportunity tax credit. We also offer pamphlets on community awareness with respect to individuals with various disabilities. You may take copies of these pamphlets with you as a reference for you and your staff.

Also, we have recently partnered with the Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). This partnership has allowed us to utilize DETR’s advanced website.
