Washington, DC, May 21, 2004 – United Cerebral Palsy Associations, a leader in national disability issues, recently named David Bennett as Vice President of Development. Bennett will manage all revenue generating programs for the organization, its national network of affiliates, and hundreds of thousands of consumers.

Bennett created and led the Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorship Group at Odell, Simms & Associates, Inc., for eight years, one of the nation's most comprehensive economic development, direct marketing, and fundraising firms for thirty years. In that capacity, he developed and managed corporate partnerships for non-profit clients including the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institution, the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation, and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation.

"We are so pleased to have David and his vast development experience working for UCP," said Stephen Bennett, President and CEO of UCP. "He shares our commitment to advance the independence and civil rights of people with disabilities."

Also a veteran political fundraiser, Bennett was a chief advisor and development officer for several U.S. Senate campaigns and the Republican National Committee.

He is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Master Chorale of Washington, a performance group resident at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Bennett is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
