United Cerebral Palsy Statement on the Death of Dana Reeve (03/7/2006)
Washington, DC, March 7, 2006 - Stephen Bennett, President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy, issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Dana Reeve.
“Christopher and Dana Reeve were accidental advocates in the world of disability. Yet seemingly overnight, their presence and persistence for advanced research and public awareness on behalf of all people with disabilities touched the lives of millions. And now we in the disability community are left with a tremendous loss of leadership after the tragic passing of Mrs. Reeve yesterday.
On behalf of United Cerebral Palsy and the families we serve, I extend our sincere condolences to the Reeve family, as well as our friends at the Christopher Reeve Foundation who will carry the Reeves’ vision forward.”
