Photo of Congressman John Tierney (D-MA) with Todd Kates, Executive Director of UCP MetroBostonUCP took advantage of the 14th anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) coinciding with the first day of the Democratic National Convention by co-sponsoring the ADA Award Ceremony and Celebration at WGBH-TV in Boston.

The event, which drew approximately 200 people, honored Members of Congress who have championed disability issues while highlighting that much work remains to be done for people with disabilities despite ADA passage.

Todd Kates, Executive Director of UCP MetroBoston, along with his staff represented UCP at the event, honoring Congressman John Tierney (D-MA). On behalf of UCP, Kates thanked Congressman Tierney for his work in support of meaningful Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) legislation.

Kates noted that Congressman Tierney "is a hero to the millions of families fighting to make sure that their children have access to the educational opportunities they need to lead full lives."

UCP is participating in a similar event next month during the Republican National Convention in New York City.
