Congressman Lauds UCP Support for IDEA Full-Funding Legislation

Rep. Mike Ferguson (R-NJ), the chief sponsor along with Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) of a bill to attain full federal funding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) by 2006, has issued a press release summarizing the bill and lauding UCP's support for it. Key co-sponsors who appeared at the press conference where Ferguson's press release was issued are Reps. Kelly (R-NY), Grucci (R-NY), Platts (R-PA), and Quinn (R-NY). House Government Reform chairman Burton (R-IN) also is a co-sponsor. The bill has not yet been assigned an identifying number.

This bill also has been introduced in the Senate as S 466 by Sens. Hagel (R-NE), Jeffords (R-VT), Kennedy (D-MA) and others. Congress has not yet scheduled any action.
