A New Ride for UCP of Southern Maryland
(June 15 - Washington, DC) Consumers and staff at UCP of Southern Maryland will drive around in style this summer.
Two new 15 passenger buses with wheelchair lifts were delivered to the Annapolis headquarters earlier this month. Donated in part through a grant from the Maryland Transit Administration, the two new vehicles will be used to transport UCP consumers to work, medical appointments, and UCP program activities.
"Transportation for folks in chairs can be challenging, and we are very excited about the opportunities these buses will open-up for our consumers," said Southern Maryland Executive Director Mitzi Bernard.
UCP of Southern Maryland supports individuals with disabilities in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary counties with a wide variety of programs, including in-home services for individuals and their families, employment assistance, residential services, and recreation programs.
