Shelly Brady, Author of Ten Things I Learned from Bill Porter, Guest on Oprah

UCP continues to applaud Shelly Brady, author of Ten Things I Learned from Bill Porter. Shelly Brady and Bill Porter appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show honoring Unique Friendships on Thursday, July 25, 2002.

The book, from PGW-distributed New World Library, tells the story of Bill Porter’s life and the valuable lessons Shelly learned from her experiences with this door-to-door salesman who has cerebral palsy. Described by New World Library marketing director Monique Muhlenkamp as a "short, easy, sweet read," the book has benefited from the TNT original film, DOOR TO DOOR, starring William H. Macy. Macy also wrote the book's foreword and co-wrote the script. TNT will air this incredible film again in a few months. UCP will keep you posted with upcoming dates.

New World Library is donating a portion of the proceeds from the book to UCP of Oregon and Southwest Washington. The programs and services of UCP are described in the book. The San Francisco self-help house already has 50,000 copies in print and has ordered 25,000 more in anticipation of the Oprah spot.
