Pennsylvania Organization Receives UCP Public Policy and Advocacy Award
United Cerebral Palsy of Pennsylvania Accepts Award at Annual Conference
National charity United Cerebral Palsy has selected a Pennsylvania organization to receive its 2007 Public Policy and Advocacy Award For Excellence. At the annual conference in Orlando in April, Executive Director Joan W. Martin accepted the award for Harrisburg-based United Cerebral Palsy of Pennsylvania. A native of Lancaster County, Joan has been with the organization for six years. Nominated by member agency executive directors and UCP of PA Board members, the fifty-five year old non-profit organization was selected for its state-level advocacy activities on behalf of individuals with disabilities, their family members and providers of community based services. The mission of the organization is to advocate for the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
