Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska, Inc. Officially Joins United Cerebral Palsy Associations
Washington, DC, May 15, 1993—Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska, Inc., an agency providing services to adults and children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, was recognized as a new state affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy Associations, Inc. (UCPA) at UCPA's recent Annual Conference in Washington, DC.
"Adding Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska to our 160 affiliates nationwide is a great plus for us," said John D. Kemp, UCPA's Executive Director. "With this new affiliate in Nebraska, we have improved the quality of life for people with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities and their families."
"I'm very excited to be a part of the UCPA family," said Terri Mecham Butler, Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska's Executive Director. "This affiliation enables us to increase our public awareness with tools like the new UCPA public service announcements, offer our staff and board educational opportunities through 2nd teleconferences and publications like the governmental activities newsletter, and participate in national events like Casual Day™.
Casual Day is a day when employers allow their employees to come to work in casual clothes in exchange for a small donation to United Cerebral Palsy. This year, Casual Day is June 18th. Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska, with headquarters in Lincoln, is a statewide organization which offers services for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities and their families. Information and referral, education, direct financial support, recreation and sports opportunities, and advocacy services are a part of the programs offered by Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska.
UCPA is a nonprofit, charitable organization with a network of 160 local and state affiliates committed to positively affecting the quality of life for persons with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities. Last year, Money magazine ranked UCPA as the number one health organization in the country, based on the percentage of dollars spent directly on programs and services.
