Community outreach, clinical evaluations, diagnoses, program models and teaching materials are among the services extended to the citizens of Kansas as the KU-UAP develops alternatives to institutional care for persons with developmental disabilities. The KU-UAP helps families of persons with disabilities define their needs, find resources, and plan and evaluate services on a cost-performance basis. The KU-UAP also provides in-service training to service providers. KU-UAP applied research activities in Lawrence, Parsons and Kansas City include model programs to serve persons with disabilities and their families. Educational and behavioral training programs assist in developing individual talents that support more rewarding lifestyles.
