Legislative Goals – 111th Congress

2009-2010 Legislative Goals Cover Image The Arc and United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) have jointly developed the Legislative Goals for the 111th Congress (2009 – 2010) (PDF) to provide a framework for discussions with members of the First Session of the 111th Congress and their respective staffs regarding disability issues.

For a concise brochure version, click here for PDF version. The legislative goals also were developed in partnership with the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) and Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).

AAIDD is a network of professionals from numerous disciplines who strive to provide research, resources, supports, and services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ANCOR is a national association of more than 800 private providers of supports and services to more than 385,000 individuals with disabilities, employing more than 300,000 staff. AUCD is a non-profit organization that represents the national network of university centers on disabilities.

The foundation for the 2009 – 2010 legislative agenda is built on the mission statements, principles, core values, position statements, current policies of The Arc, UCP, AAIDD, ANCOR, and AUCD, and with the input developed of volunteers, members and professionals from across the country. We have taken into consideration expected proposals from the White House and Congress, as well as the laws that need reauthorization during this session.
