United Way Day of Caring 2009: Photo Gallery

Day of Caring Thank You PostCard!

Our success hinges on your investment in the community...and for that we thank you!

The United Way Day of Caring event on September 11, 2009 was a real soaker.... so many of our programs had plans to do activities outside with consumers, or have projects completed outside, and it rained for the entire day. However....the rain didn't stop the more than seventy dedicated volunteers who were prepared for their projects at six different sites.

At four of our locations the volunteers completed indoor fall cleaning and maintenance projects, and at one of our locations the volunteers braved the elements and spent all day on outdoor fall clean-up tasks. The largest group of volunteers met at a local park for a picnic with our east shore adult day program participants. They made the best of the rainy situation, and had a great picnic! And to round out the day.... the Kissmobile made a special appearance.

Words can not express our gratitude to the volunteers who gave so generously of their time. Check out the photo gallery for more details.

The Day of Caring is very important to our organization because it provides insight to those organizations who choose to participate about the contributions that we make in the lives of individuals with disabilities and to the local community every day.   We hope the volunteers were touched by their time here with us, and will give generously through the United Way, or maybe even become a UCP volunteer. If so, the Day of Caring can be considered an even bigger success!
