UCP's 23rd Annual Celebrity Banquet & Auction raises funds for our local programs

UCP's 2010 Celebrity BanquetUnited Cerebral Palsy’s 23rd Annual Celebrity Banquet received more publicity than ever before and raised well over $70,000 to support UCP’s programs and services. As the signature fundraiser for UCP, the Celebrity Banquet is critical to the continued service of over 1,200 individuals in our community every year. It was our most successful and entertaining event to date. Over 200 guests strolled through Blackhawk placing bids on nearly 200 auction items while they enjoyed the music of local musician, Brian Vanderbloemen and his jazz quartet.

UCP's 2010 Celebrity BanquetUCP’s Executive Director, Camilla Rucinski, warmly welcomed attendees and introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Jackie Millar, a client served by UCP’s Adult Supportive Services. Jackie gave a touching and compelling account of how UCP has supported her over the last 12 years, allowing her to maintain her individuality and independence. Her story captured the attention of all who were present and reminded attendees of the importance of UCP’s programs and services.

The evening’s emcee, Dan Smith of Triangle Media Works, entertained attendees throughout the evening and maintained a high energy level during the friendly and competitive live auction of four Schwinn bicycles, donated by Pacific Cycles and a PlayStation 3 Gaming system, donated by Friends of UCP.

UCP's 2010 Celebrity BanquetThe celebrity servers were creative in raising additional funds for UCP by participating in games and activities throughout the evening. UW Football players bench-pressed the UW Volleyball players while other servers held a cartwheel competition. An impromptu performance of On Wisconsin at the end of the evening featured the UW Band Drum Majors along with Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk.

UCP's 2010 Celebrity BanquetThe support UCP receives from sponsors, donors, volunteers and attendees, is essential to the event’s success. Thank you to this year’s sponsors: Presenting Sponsors American Family Insurance and UW Health; Community Sponsors SprintPrint, Inc. and Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek; Special Friend Sponsors Andy and Chris Anderson, Baker Tilly, CUNA Mutual Group, Custer Financial Services, Dental Health Associates, Godfrey & Kahn, Group Health Cooperative, Meriter Health Services, Middleton Community Bank, The Carey Group, Tri-North Builders; as well as our media sponsor Madison Magazine and raffle sponsor Herzing University.

You Can Make a Difference

When you give to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Dane County, 90% of all funds raised are allocated to UCP programs. Here are some ways your donation can make a difference to those living with disabilities:

A $50 gift = a three hour education/therapy session to support the development of a young child with a speech delay.
A $100 gift = a full day of programming to enable two children with special needs to attend a neighborhood child care program.
A $250 gift = adaptive equipment to help support development and mobility needs.

We understand that these are challenging economic times, but to the families supported by UCP services, these programs are essential.

Please take a few minutes and consider how you can make a difference. To donate, please contact Trisha Davies, Director of Development, at (608) 237-8508 or   trishadavies@ucpdane.org or make an online donation.
