CVS/pharmacy Turns Dreams Into A Reality
In result of CVS/pharmacy’s local contributions made on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Mobile announced today that CVS/pharmacy will officially present a $100,000 donation to Camp SMILE on Monday, April 28th. Starting at 10 a.m., the ceremonial check will be offered at UCP’s Mobile office located at 3058 Dauphin Square Connector.
On hand for the event will be UCP of Mobile’s President and CEO – Glenn Harger – along with, Cecy Lowell (Director of Camp SMILE), David LaMarr (District Manager, CVS/pharmacy), Peter and Chris Gaudet (featured on “Extreme Makeover”), and a few of this year’s Camp SMILE attendees.
This generous gift will be well used with much of it going to purchase much-needed camp equipment and supplies, while a portion is placed in a SMILE fund to help send kids and adults – that normally could not afford to go – to camp. United Cerebral Palsy hopes that CVS/pharmacy’s example will serve as the foundation for other businesses and individuals to get involved in charitable giving for Camp.
“It is thrilling to know that companies, like CVS/pharmacy, are willing to step up and play a big part in changing lives for the better,” states Cecy Lowell. “We value our corporate and community partnerships. They are the driving force for us being able to open our doors to the public.”
Camp SMILE is a week of traditional summer camp activities and provides horseback riding, swimming pools, paddleboats, arts and crafts, etc. for over 240 individuals with disabilities. This year, the fun begins June 9th and continues through July 4th with weekly sessions for ranging age groups.
“CVS/pharmacy is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations, such as Camp SMILE, that provide innovative programs and services focused on helping people with disabilities,” said David LaMarr, District Manager, CVS/pharmacy. “Through our donation, we are proud to be able to make an impact on the lives of members of the Alabama community.”
