Helping Others Brings an Unexpected Surprise
MOBILE – On Wednesday, June 11th, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Mobile was awarded the title of “Best Supported Employment Program in Alabama” for the 2008 calendar year. The honor was given by the Alabama Association of Persons in Supported Employment (AL-APSE).
Those in attendance at the ceremony were – AL-APSE Committee President – Byron White; UCP’s (President and CEO) Glenn Harger, Todd Perkins (Director of Adult and Youth Services), and the entire Supported Employment team. Also present were delegates from supported employment agencies located around the state.
The award was given based on agency status in areas of number of job applicant placements, success in placement, and longevity at the worksite.
United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile’s Supported Employment program assists people with a variety of disabilities to locate, acquire, and maintain competitive employment in integrated settings. Currently, UCP works with over 100 clients and more than 50 businesses in Mobile, Baldwin, and Escambia counties, as well as, Montgomery, Troy and Andalusia.
