UCP of East Central Florida wins Operational Planning Best Practices Award from VMA

At the Volusia Manufacturers Association Award banquet held on October 23, 2008, United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Florida was honored with the prestigious Best Practices Award for Operational Planning.

The banquet room at Sunset Harbour Yacht Club was packed with VMA members and award recipients.

UCP applied for the award and after an intense panel review by their peers in both the for profit and non-profit business sectors, UCP learned they were receiving the award.

UCP and its workforce of individuals with disabilities assembles, collates and manufacturers many items working with several members of the VMA. Some tasks include assembling ‘rockets’, for conducting electricity for Homac industries. During the course of the year, participants in the Adult Day Training workshop at UCP will package 6.5 million personal care items for Brand Connections.

UCP also does work for Boston Whaler, the Volusia County School system, NASCAR and many others. All with the mission of teaching people transferable employment skills to enable individuals to work in the community.

UCP of East Central Florida has a rich history of serving individuals with disabilities since 1969 and has three main focuses which are to train people to work in the community, to help people secure work, and to help them live in the community. Inspiring people with disabilities to discover their limitless potential is the mission of UCP of East Central Florida Annually, UCP serves more than 600 individuals with varying disabilities, throughout a six county area.
