Knights of Columbus Donate to UCP of East Central Florida
All across the country members of the Knights of Columbus give away tootsie rolls in front of supermarkets and other retail stores and ask for donations. The money collected is donated to local non-profits.
This year the Father Dillon Council in Edgewater Florida, a chapter that is only three years old, chose to donate their funds to United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Florida in Daytona Beach.
Officer Chase Barry said he remembers back in he 1970's when WORC was on Willis Ave and the workshop needed an air conditioner. When this opportunity arose, he thought of UCP. "We want lo let other people know you are here and them get involved in the good work you do," Barry said.
The Knights of Columbus brought a check for $705.00. Deputy Grand Knight, Ron Valeo said next year he hopes it will be for more money.
