Playground project under way!
In conjunction with the Mosaic of Hope capital campaign, UCP of Huntsville and Tennessee Valley, Inc. hopes to replace its aging, inaccessible playground with a new, fully handicapped accessible playground.
The UCP Therapy Center playground is used by UCP clients for physical, occupational and speech therapies in a fun, non-clinical environment. The playground is also used for family events with UCP clients and their able-bodied siblings, as well as UCP's annual summer sensory camp for children with disabilities.
The current UCP Therapy Center playground is shown in the slideshow below.
Thanks to Christ Episcopal Church of Albertville for being the first to donate to the new playground! Youth Pastor Mark Hyatt presented UCP Administrative Director Suzanne Price with a check for $1,900 to sponsor the elevated sand table area. UCP appreciates Christ Episcopal’s willingness to lead the way in this important project.
UCP Administrative Director Suzanne Price and Marketing/Events Coordinator Tracy Cieniewicz accepted an $18,000 CAS Cares grant on behalf of UCP at the quarterly ITT-CAS, Inc. Employee Breakfast June 24, 2008, at the Marriott.
UCP sincerely appreciates this generous grant donation.
Many playground sponsorship opportunities remain and UCP needs your help to make this project a reality! All areas include poured rubber surfacing with borders and rubber mulch, which provides full accessibility for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Naming opportunities are available on a first come, first served basis.
