Checklist Offers Guidance in Identifying Developmental Delays in Children and Youth
There are many children and youth in state care who may have developmental disabilities that have not been formally diagnosed and in turn are not receiving the services they need.
A new resource is available to help professionals identify potential developmental delays in the children with whom they are working. The Developmental Disability Checklist for Children in State Care is a simple review and reminder of what to look for and do if a child is suspected of having
developmental disabilities or is at risk of developmental delays. The concise checklist can provide insight and guidance to lawyers, Guardian ad Litem, caseworkers and others working to ensure the welfare of children who have been placed in the care of the state.

The checklist was prepared for use by the Disabilities Workgroup, a committee of Florida Bar Foundation grantees, led by Florida's Children First. To access the document, please click Checklist.
