Spotlight on Kids
As the school year has been winding down we take this opportunity to look back at all that has been accomplished by many of our students this year.
We will be saying goodbye to four of our students. Two students will be returning to their home school district this fall. One student will be graduating and moving on to our adult program and the other has relocated to another area of Illinois. We wish them all the best in their new settings.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all that took part in the flower sale that was completed this year. We are looking forward to an even bigger sale next year.
In April, our students took part in opening day for the baseball season. We divided our classes into two teams. Many of the students had a chance to play different positions in the outfield and everyone had an opportunity to hit the ball and run the bases. Fun was had by all.
Our students took part in Field days on June 15th with many activities set for their participation including an obstacle course, bowling, fishing, a live band and numerous other activities. Jammer stopped by UCP to give hugs to all students and staff. He enjoyed his visit with us and we look forward to seeing him again next year.
This year for the Fourth of July, our staff and students took part in a parade around the school. As we crossed each neighbors’ home, a flag was placed in their front yard. Patriotic music was playing along the parade. Several families and their pets came out and greeted the students and staff. The students enjoyed the walk and interaction with the neighbors. After the parade, the students were treated to a cookout for lunch. We look forward to having our neighbors join us again next year. We would also like to thank all those extra sets of hands that helped out with pushing the students around the block. A big thank you goes to our school spirit committee for putting this event together.
From all students and staff, thank you to all who do so much for us throughout the year. We appreciate everything that you do.
