Great Chefs Tasting Party & Auction
March 4, 2007 marked the 12th annual Great Chefs Tasting Party. The party was held at the Bolingbrook Golf Club and exceeded all expectations regarding attendance, chef participation, live auction proceeds and silent auction proceeds. Special recognition goes to Scott Slocum who served as the event’s Master of Ceremonies, as well as the Auctioneer.
A special thank you goes to the event sponsors: American Culinary Federation - Louis Joliet Chapter, 1340 WJOL and Star Radio, and The Herald News.
Again this year, Chef Fred Ferrara of Joliet Junior College chaired the event committee, as well as coordinated the participation of the various culinary establishments. The Chef Fred Ferarra Service Award was presented to Chef John Kallas. Chef John has been involved with UCP for several years. John has instructed our children and adults in nutrition and cooking classes. He worked with several of our adults to prepare for the Special Chef’s Blue Ribbon Recipe and Cooking Contest for individuals with developmental disabilities, and has participated with some of the adult clients at the Chefs Tasting Party.
