Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan, the state chapter of a nationwide program to help patients in need get prescription medicines, is generating an outpouring of inquiries from patients across the state.

Since its launch on May 9, 2005, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan has matched nearly 14,000 people to patient assistance programs that meet their needs. In Michigan, it is estimated that more than 704,000 uninsured patients may be eligible for one or more assistance programs.

“I am thrilled that this new program already is benefiting thousands of people in Michigan,” said Billy Tauzin, president and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). “We will continue to work with our partners in Michigan to help those in need get the prescription medicines they need to live healthier lives.”

Through it’s toll-free phone number and user-friendly Web site, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan provides a single point of access to more than 275 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.

More than 20 state and local organizations, including the American Cancer Society – Great Lakes Division, Michigan Association of United Ways and the Mental Health Association in Michigan, have joined the Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan to help increase awareness of and enrollment in patient assistance programs.

“It’s encouraging that people are responding so strongly to the Partnership for Prescription Assistance of Michigan,” said Mark Reinstein, president and CEO, Mental Health Association in Michigan. “This initiative already is proving to be a powerful tool in helping the uninsured and underinsured in Michigan find assistance programs that meet their needs.”

Patients who need help paying for their prescription medicines should call toll-free at 1-888-4PPA-NOW (1-888-477-2669) or visit www.pparxmi.org to see if they may qualify.
