Becker High School Senior Receives UCP Spirit Award
The UCP Spirit Award is presented to a person with cerebral palsy who resides in Sherburne, Benton or Stearns county. This person demonstrates community volunteerism, leadership and the ability to meet and rise above the challenges of living with cerebral palsy with spirit and determination.
Ethan was acknowleged for his volunteer activities on the Senior Leadership team at Becker HIgh School, Relay For Life, Sherburne County Fair and Wicht Farms. Ethan was nominated by Becker High School guidance counselor, Maria Gayken and was presented the award by Steve Feddema, Spirit Award winner in 2007.
Ethan accepted the award and gave an inspiriational speech about the challenges of living with cerebral palsy and how hard he has worked to overcome those challenges. He thanked his parents, Mike and Laurel Light, and his twin sister, Samantha, for their support. Ethan plans to attend college and pursue a degree in History
