UCP would like to thank Jacqueline Fasulo for making the season bright for those individuals with disabilities served at its new Crossroads Center.

After preparing a holiday stocking filled with donated items for a family friend with cerebral palsy last winter, Centennial High School student, Jacqueline Fasulo, came to UCP wanting to take her fundraising efforts to the next level. By going out into the community and collecting gifts and monetary donations, including a bake sale, Jacqueline was able to fill 47 stockings, one for each individual served at the new UCP Crossroads Center.

<LEFT><img src=/uploads/cr20.jpg </LEFT>

Jacqueline and Santa then came to the center during its Holiday Celebration on Thursday, December 22 to hand out the stockings and presents. On behalf of the staff and individuals at the UCP Crossroads Center - THANK YOU!

<LEFT><img src=/uploads/cr22.jpg </LEFT>

The Variety Tones polka band also joined in on the fun by providing festive music to the party!

UCP Day Program Moves into New Facility

UCP's Arbutus and Essex programs moved to a new state-of-the-art facility in the White Marsh/Middle River area of Baltimore County in November.

<LEFT><img src=/uploads/cut2.jpg </LEFT>
UCP celebrates the move with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

THe 21,000-square-foot space is located at 11650 Crossroads Circle. The new facility has: two spacious and well-lit day rooms, one with a 73-inch flat screen television; a game room; computer lab; sensory stimulation room; art room; nurses' station; conference room; and smaller activity rooms for individualized programming as well as a beautiful outdoor pavilion with gazebo that individuals can enjoy in the warmer months.

By combining the two programs, it is allowing for more efficiency of care and staffing, and UCP can now offer more services that are tailored to the individual's needs. "We are very pleased to be able to provide safe, modern and efficient adult day care facilities for the more than 150 individuals with developmental disabilities we serve, and appreciate the assistance of St. John Properties in building the facility out to accommodate all of our special needs," says UCP President and CEO Diane Coughlin.

Snowden and Nancy Stanley established a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Scholarship Program at UCP-CM in memory of their son, John, a young man with severe disabilities who had received supports from UCP-CM. To show respect and appreciation for direct care staff as well as to nurture and cultivate their future success, the Stanleys have funded scholarships to send four UCP-CM direct care employees to school to become certified nursing assistants. This fall, scholarships were awarded to James Kimano, Justin Freedman, Wayne Ferguson, and Nikki Rogers.
