We need to continue efforts to urge federal legislation to protect all students. It is essential that legislation prohibiting restraint or seclusion be written into an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or other student planning document. It is critically important to protect parent and student rights.

Please see the issue brief below regarding the importance of prohibiting the use of restraint and seclusion as planned interventions, written for the APRAIS Coalition by COPAA Board Members and Government Affairs Committee Co-Chairs Leslie Seid Margolis, Esq. and Robert Berlow, Esq. and former Board Member and COPAA Chair and current Government Affairs Committee member Jessica Butler, Esq.
