Adult Services
Information and Referral
The CLASS Information and Referral service gathers and disseminates information on any disability topic from crisis intervention to ADA requirements.
Our Information & Referral Specialist at UCP’s Community Service Centre in North Oakland can address concerns or inquiries about a disability. In addition, the Specialist gathers information on many programs and services offered for individuals with disabilities in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Calls are received from around the world on issues such as assistive technology and attendant care. This free service is open to the public and is partially funded by United Way of Allegheny County.
By telephone, in person, or via email, our Information & Referral Specialist will provide complete follow through on any inquiry. Topics include:
- Information on various disabilities including but not limited to cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spina bifida, stroke, and visual impairments;
- Temporary shelters for individuals with a housing crisis;
- Transportation providers for individuals with disabilities;
- Contractors who specialize in making homes and businesses accessible;
- Services available for children with disabilities;
- The latest on rehabilitative treatments and medical experts;
- Assistance in determining eligibility requirements for public housing.
UCP of Pittsburgh has a long tradition of service for people with disabilities and remains a vital resource to our human service community.

We were living out of our truck with our son and we called UCP for assistance. With their help in getting us hooked up with other agencies we were able to get temporary housing and now we have our own place and are back on our feet.

I really needed help with my electric bill and didn't know where to turn. I had called many places that couldn't help me until I found UCP. With their help I was able to have electricity turned back on.
