Assistive Technology
Easley Family Lending Library
During her life, Sue Ann Easley was a strong advocate for the rights of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Although she was always an active and outgoing person, the augmentative communication device she received in 1992 allowed Sue Ann Easley to become a vocal proponent of the importance of Assistive Technology. It was with great pride that UCP of Mobile dedicated its toy and equipment library to her memory.
The Easley Family Lending Library offers temporary use of adapted toys, switches, communication devices*, books, videos, and other resources to individuals with disabilities, parents, and professionals. By using these items, consumers and their families can learn what equipment works best before making any expensive purchases.
While membership is required for checking out equipment, membership fees are very reasonable. UCP of Mobile charges a one-time fee of just $5 for individuals and families. For professionals the one-time fee is just $20.
* - Communication devices are loaned only to professionals. Individuals interested in trying one should contact UCP’s Assistive Technology Team.
