In-Home Respite Care
In-home respite care is typically provided in a family's home to temporarily relieve the unpaid primary caregiver. It is intended for those whose primary caregivers typically are the same persons day-after-day. This service is provided during portions of the day when the caregivers typically provide care and is not intended to overlap normal Day Hab program periods to provide respite during normal Day Hab program hours. In-home respite is not to be used for schedule changes in hourly staff. In-home respite care is typically scheduled in advance, but can also serve as relief in a crisis situation. In-home respite is provided in one to four hour units.
Note: As with all hourly services, in-home respite care is dependent on the individual's needs as set fourth in the plan of care and will be reviewed by Medicaid.
