Community Recreation

Community Living Respite

Community Living Respite is respite care that is provided to the residents of Sussex and Kent County only. This program is similar to the respite care that is provided to the residents of New Castle County. The respite worker will visit a family once a week, once every other week, or once a month. The visits are two to four hours in length.

Whenever possible the person with a disability sets up what he or she would like to do during respite time. this allows for growth and independence. UCP will take people shopping, to medical appointments, and to other places in the community.

UCP of DE uses vans equipped with wheelchair lifts to help program participants access the community.

UCP’s Community Respite Care programs receive funding from the DHSS Division of Services for Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities.

For more information about Community Living Respite, please contact UCP at (302) 764-2400 or send an e-mail.
