Respite Care (Springfield/Decatur)
The Respite Care Program is state funded and designed to help children with a developmental disability enhance their daily lives through educational and recreational activities, while providing families with some relief from care giving responsibilities.
Care is generally provided in the person’s home, but temporary out-of-home (facility) respite is also available for individuals whose medical problems, behaviors, or other needs hinder adequate in-home respite care. Licensed Foster Home Respite is also available for families who prefer to use the worker’s home.
Respite Care workers are at least 18 years of age and must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Workers complete training provided by UCP of Land of Lincoln, including: CPR and First Aid. Additional training includes: Blood borne Pathogens, Safety, Medicine, Seizures, Lifting, etc.
