Upper Peninsula Assistive Technology Center

The Upper Peninsula Assistive Technology Center (UP AT Center) brings assistive technology solutions to Upper Peninsula residents with disabilities. The UP AT Center works with people of all ages and all disabilities including struggling students, adults who need accommodations for employment, and senior citizens who could benefit from special equipment to remain in their homes.

AT services begin with an assessment that is designed to help customers choose products that will optimize their independence. UP AT Center staff help with funding solutions, device set-up and training, computer software installation and training, Augmentative Communication device programming and training, and ongoing support to ensure our cutomer's success with their AT devices.

The UP AT Center, located in Marquette, does assessments for:

Ongoing training after a device has been recommended is an important component of Assistive Technology. The UP AT Center staff will work with the customer and their support persons (family members, school staff, rehab counselors, etc.) to ensure their success with a particular device.

The UP AT Center is equipped with many state of the art devices as a result of funding received from The Elsie S. Bellows Foundation. Whether high tech or a simple big button phone, the UP AT Center staff is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities become more independent in their everyday life.

In addition to providing individual AT services to its customers, the UP AT Center is available to the community as a resource and regularly hosts informational workshops for area schools, community mental health agencies, rehabiliation professionals, and university students majoring in the education and rehabilitation fields.
