Bellows Fund

Bellows Fund

In 1995, Elsie S. Bellows donated a generous charitable fund to UCP to provide assistive technology devices to individuals with disabilities in financial need. The annual income generated from the Bellow Fund is disbursed exclusively through UCP affiliates to purchase assistive technology equipment for individuals with disabilities.

UCP of Minnesota is proud to provide grants to purchase assistive technology for Minnesota residents with cerebral palsy (children and adults) to improve independence and quality of daily living. Grants are not to exceed $500. It must be shown that the equipment to be purchased will improve quality of life, and maintain or improve the functional capabilities of the individual.

Minnesota residents with cerebral palsy may apply for a grant not to exceed $500 to purchase assistive technology to improve independence and quality of daily living. Use of assistive technology will increase an individual’s independence, communication or quality of life. It must be shown that the equipment to be purchased will improve quality of life, and maintain or improve the functional capabilities of the individual.

Funding will be made available to assist in the purchase of assistive technology related to the needs of people with cerebral palsy and similar physical disabilities.

Assistive technology is defined as: "any piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities."

All residents of Minnesota with cerebral palsy, except those in Stearns, Benton, or Sherburne Counties, will be eligible for application without regard to age. Residents of Stearns, Benton and Sherburne Counties are encouraged to contact UCP of Central Minnesota.
