History
Our local affiliate began in 1985 as a service committee of UCPNJ, started by a group of committed parents seeking innovative services for their children that were not available in the community. For two years, the Tri-County Unit (service committee) worked with families to identify needs and developed programs to support families in Morris, Somerset, and Hunterdon counties. In September 1987, the service committee spun off Hunterdon County and UCP of Morris/Somerset, Inc. was incorporated. On October 1, 1987 we began operating as an independent, non-profit charitable health services agency. On February 16, 2006, our name was officially changed to United Cerebral Palsy of Northern, Central & Southern New Jersey to reflect geographic and service expansion throughout the state of New Jersey.
