Mission & Vision
Mission
The mission of UCP of Greater Dane County is to enrich the quality of life for the people we serve: in their homes; in their communities; and in their life choices.
We are committed to supporting people with developmental disabilities or delays and their families in living with dignity and self respect. To achieve this goal, we adhere to the following guiding principles:
Full Community Membership:
We believe that everyone, including individuals with developmental disabilities, deserves a place in the community to work, to learn and to grow. We believe that the community is enriched by diversity and the involvement of all of its members.
Collaborative Partnerships:
We believe that it is our role to assist people in taking as much responsibility for their lives as possible while still recognizing that we all have a need to work with and be supported by others. We further embrace opportunities to assist persons with developmental disabilities in being involved in the process to improve things for themselves and for others.
Building on Informal and Natural Supports:
We belive that it is our role to support and enhance the natural mechanisms which keep families healthy and allow for the inclusion of all people in our community.
Community Connections:
We believe that UCP is a vital part of the community and that it is our role to weave our services into the fabric of community life. We believe that through enhanced relationships and community partnerships, more opportunities will become available for a growing number of people. We consider community awareness and ongoing education to be a vital component of our services.
Quality Relationships:
We recongnize the importance and impact of family and quality relationships in every person's life. We strive to nurture and support individuals with developmental disabilities in living a secure and safe life that involves the important people surrounding and supporting them.
