History
United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia (UCP) was founded in 1962 by volunteers, professionals, and family members of persons with cerebral palsy. UCP of Georgia is a charter affiliate of the national association of United Cerebral Palsy. UCP is a voluntary human services agency, which now provides a broad spectrum of programs and services for children and adults with cerebral palsy and all other developmental disabilities including autism, epilepsy, mental retardation and Down syndrome.
UCP programs and services are designed to support people with developmental disabilities in managing their disability and to support them in enhancing their quality of life by achieving full participation in their communities. UCP of Georgia is headquartered in Atlanta, with services provided across the state. We have a branch in Macon, and service concentrations in the Augusta and Savannah areas.
In 1994, UCP of Georgia consisted of fewer than 30 staff members providing limited services to 100 people. In the last several years, UCP of Georgia has grown into a statewide agency with over 550 employees, which provides extensive programs and services to more than 900 individuals and their families.
UCP of Georgia management is keenly responsive to the needs of those we serve and their families, with staff being approachable and accessible to individuals at all times. In a recent survey that was conducted to measure satisfaction with our services and the responsiveness of staff to family members and those we serve, UCP of Georgia was given a satisfaction rate of 94%, which qualified the agency for an overall "excellent" rating.
