About UCP
A group of parents, looking for a better life for their children with cerebral palsy, started UCP of Minnesota in 1953.
The focus of UCP of Minnesota is public policy, information and referral, providing augmentative and alternative communication devices and education for people with cerebral palsy and their families.
UCP of Minnesota is one of over 100 affiliates of United Cerebral Palsy. UCP of Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the residents of Minnesota in all counties except Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties. These counties receive services from UCP of Central Minnesota.
UCPM is a proud member of Community Health Charities Minnesota (CHCM) through workplace giving. CHCM is an alliance of leading nonprofit health research and service organizations whose mission is to improve lives affected by chronic illness by investing in health research, services, and education.
In November 2004, UCPM was reviewed by Charities Review Council, an independent organization that researches and reviews nonprofits in order to help Minnesota donors make informed giving decision. Organizations are evaluated against a set of accountability standards in fours areas: Public Disclosure, Governance, Financial Activity and Fundraising. We are proud to state that UCPM meets all standards. Although the Council does not endorse or disapprove of any organization, its standards are generally accept baseline indicators of accountable, ethical and healthy organizations, and the Council encourages donors to support charities that meet it standards.
